Today I want to share a peek into my family and our fun Christmas tradition! For several years, we have made a Peppermint Village, inspired by an article in a Martha Stewart kid magazine. The children love this and look forward to it every year! All you need is a bunch of candy, a few styrofoam tree forms, a small carton for the house, cardboard (we use a cake board) for the foundation, royal icing and a child’s creativity (and a little tolerance for a big mess!) We used two boards this year so there would be ample opportunity for everyone to decorate to his/her heart’s content. The last picture was taken a few days after we finished the village, and it may or may not have a few missing pieces. I’ll put it this way….I’ve had to change the tablecloth daily because of mysterious trails of icing and powdered sugar. 🙂
